John Pemberton

John E. Pemberton is the Founder and Chief Instructor of Spartan Dynamics LLC,, the Co-Founder of Practical Defense Academy, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and a lifelong student of personal protection and martial arts. 

With 20 years of teaching experience and thousands of students trained, John has dedicated his career to helping everyday citizens develop the skills, mindset, and confidence needed to protect themselves and their loved ones.

John holds black belts in both traditional Karate-Do and JuJitsu, is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt, and has served as a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) Black Belt Instructor.

John is a certified instructor through multiple nationally recognized organizations, including the USCCA, NRA, Rangemaster, and Law of Self Defense.

He is also a Training Counselor, armorer, and curriculum developer who has taught courses ranging from martial arts and concealed carry to advanced defensive shooting, firearm retention, and realistic force-on-force training.As the founder of Spartan Dynamics, John believes in a simple philosophy: “Teacher first, practitioner second.” His training programs focus on practical, reality-based skills that can be applied by ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances.
